The Chinese company, Huawei, launched its new smart watch, Huawei Watch 4, which comes as the first smart watch capable of measuring blood sugar without pricking the user, or analyzing a blood sample.

The feature of measuring blood sugar in the new Huawei Watch 4 is an achievement for the Chinese company in the field of smart health, as this feature will measure and monitor the user’s blood sugar, and alert him if he is in danger, or needs medical advice.

This feature will also be useful for tracking blood sugar levels throughout the day for people with diabetes, or those who are in the pre-diabetic stage, without the need for frequent pricking with traditional devices.

However, the watch may not be a substitute for medical examinations or specialized measuring equipment. Huawei did not reveal in detail the mechanism for measuring blood sugar in the new watch.

The new Huawei watch also offers another feature, which is the “accurate physical examination”, which measures many health indicators and vital signs in the body with the press of a button within only 10 seconds, with an examination report given. This includes measuring heart rate, electrocardiogram, blood oxygen level, temperature, respiratory function, arterial status, and more.

It is noteworthy that the body of the watch is circular in shape, with a screen covered and protected by high-hardness “sapphire” glass, which measures an inch and a half of AMOLED type, and the weight and thickness of the watch are about 10% less compared to the previous version.

The watch is available in a basic version measuring 46 mm in stainless steel, and a “Pro” version measuring 48 mm in titanium alloy.

The Huawei Watch 4 runs on the HarmonyOS 3.1 operating system from Huawei, and the battery lasts up to 3 days in the basic version of the watch (or 14 days in ultra power saving mode), while the “Pro” version battery lasts up to 4 and a half days (or 21 days in mode Super power saving), and the watch supports 5ATM water resistance.

Huawei started offering the watch in China at a price starting at about $400 for the basic version, and $500 for the “Pro” version of the watch, and the watch will be launched in global markets soon.
